OUR STORY
Our family has been visiting the Great Smoky Mountains National Park for four generations. We were so drawn to the mountains and southern lifestyle that we had to own a cabin to experience it completely. Goldilocks' Haven is named after our family of three and the bears that visit.
Papa Bear has sadly passed away as of November of 2023 after a long cancer battle. His memory lives on in our hearts and throughout the cabin. He worked so hard to update it throughout the years and has created the perfect respite destination. We believe he's working hard in Heaven helping to get our rooms prepared for us when the Father calls the rest of his family Home.

Mama Bear now fully runs cabin operations. Our housekeeper is a huge help as well for when she can't be there. We do live up north so it's quite a drive if something major occurs. Mama Bear is always available for any questions before, during, or after your stay. Please feel free to call or text about the cabin anytime.

Baby Bear is not so 'baby' anymore! In 2026, she will be 28 years old; very close to Goldilocks' Haven's age as it'll be 22 years old. When she's not doing her full-time job, she helps out with Goldilocks' Instagram from time to time. Even though she grew up in the Zillennium tech era, Social Media has not been a focus or desire so, in many ways, it's still new and unfamiliar (and constant posting is exhausting!).

As owners, we strive to be helpful. We will assist with directions, suggest attractions and restaurants, and help with other questions that will make your stay the best possible. We designed this cabin as a family, and we hope that your family and loved ones can enjoy it as much as we do.

The Owners of Goldilocks' Haven named the cabin after our family trio and the very many bears we saw when touring for a vacation rental. It was Just Right.

Ah, yes, 2004. The trip we got Goldilocks' Haven. Baby Bear was in Kindergarten and remembers the many cabins we looked at to buy. It was an exhausting process! Then we came across Goldilocks' Haven and it was "Just Right".

Due to all the improvements made by Papa, Mama, and Baby Bear, Goldilocks' Haven is truly a "Just Right" place to stay in the mountains. There are home-y touches while also keeping the cabin vibe. We hope you enjoy it as much as we did making it.

THE CABIN
When we bought the cabin in September 2004, it was completely outdated with 1980s-style decor.
Major remodeling had to be done, which we did entirely with the help of Mama Bear's parents and other family members, who love the mountains even more than we do. The decor is filled with our family memories and efforts.
For example, the desk in the cabin's entryway has a family member's hand-painted picture of a Smoky Mountains landscape, the green table in the family room has a hand-painted checkerboard which was done by the owner, and the entire wood-log decor lined up on the walls was installed by Papa Bear and a Bear-in-Law.
Our cabin has been created to mimic as much of the mountains and home as possible to create a comfortable and exotic environment. We want you to feel like Goldilocks' Haven was created for your enjoyment because it is. As we live up north, we visit the cabin at least twice a year to make sure everything is "just right." Our housekeeper cleans the cabin after each guest to make sure it is as comfortable for you as it was the last guest.
We want each guest to feel welcome and enjoy their visit. In order to establish a connection with our guests, you will find a journal so you can record your visit. Take some time to document your visit. We love reading about your experiences and sharing some of ours. God has certainly showed up a time or two.
